Kaplan's Cafe In Coleford

If you ever find yourself strolling through the charming market town of Coleford, there’s one spot that locals and travelers alike keep coming back to-Kaplan's Cafe In Coleford. Nestled right in the heart of the town at 38-40 Market Place, this cozy café has built a name for itself as a go-to destination for everything from hearty breakfasts to elegant evening bites.

Let’s talk first about the vibe-relaxed, welcoming, and comfortable for just about anyone. Whether you’re popping in solo with your laptop for a midday caffeine fix or catching up with friends over lunch, the setting is spot on. The wheelchair-accessible entrance, seating, and restroom make it an inclusive space for all, which is always a plus. There's no delivery option here, but the takeaway service is reliable and the dine-in experience is where this place really shines.

One of the biggest draws? Kaplan’s Full House Breakfast. This isn’t your average morning plate-it’s a full-on flavor celebration. You get the works: eggs, bacon, sausage, hash browns, beans, toast... the whole shebang. Pair that with a frothy cappuccino or a smooth caffè latte, and you’ve got yourself the kind of morning that’s worth repeating.

If you’re after something with a Mediterranean twist, the Turkish Breakfast is a must-try. It’s light, colorful, and packed with flavor-perfect for those who want to steer away from heavier meals. Speaking of options, Kaplan’s Cafe caters to all kinds of cravings. From healthy plates like the Greek Salad and Caprese Salad, to more indulgent picks like their 1/2 Pounder Cheeseburger with Fries, there’s something for every appetite.

The menu also features Kaplan’s Burger, a local favorite that deserves all the hype. Juicy, well-seasoned, and piled high with toppings, this burger hits all the right notes. And if you’re into creamy pasta dishes, the Chicken Alfredo delivers rich, comforting satisfaction. Fans of global flavors might gravitate toward the Còban Korma, which adds a subtly spiced Indian flair to the lineup.

Now, let’s not skip over the drinks and desserts. This place has a reputation for serving great coffee and a top-tier tea selection, but it’s the hot chocolate that really steals the show on a cold day-smooth, rich, and often topped with whipped cream and marshmallows. Sweet tooths will also appreciate the parfait, layered to perfection, and ideal after a warm plate of smothered chicken with chips and salad or a delicate sea bass main.

Lunchtime regulars love the paninis, and the Cajun Chicken Salad is a standout for those who want a little kick. There’s even a Sunday Roast that brings the community in every weekend-tender meats, crispy roast potatoes, seasonal veg, and that all-important gravy.

It’s also worth pointing out how quick and friendly the service is. Even during busy lunch hours, staff manage to keep things moving while staying attentive and polite. That kind of consistency isn’t something you see everywhere, and it adds to the overall charm of the place.

Kaplan's Cafe In Coleford has found the sweet spot between casual comfort and quality cooking. Whether you’re looking for a quick bite, a healthy lunch, or just a solid cup of coffee while you work, this café consistently delivers. It’s no surprise that it remains popular for breakfast, lunch, and dinner-and judging by the number of regulars, Kaplan’s is the kind of place that sticks with you long after your plate’s been cleared.

Friendly staff. They happily checked for me if they use the same oil for frying flesh and assured me they don't mix it with anything, they keep one fryer for chips only so they're vegan.

Lovely cafe serving breakfast and lunch. I was surprised by the variety of full English breakfast options available. Staff was kind and attentive. I would say the place looked popular among the locals.

Brilliant cafe. Needed a breakfast spot as the Puzzlewood cafe was a bit underwhelming. This was the perfect spot. Parked round the corner (free on Sunday) and walked over. Great selection, good prices and very homely feeling.

An easy going cafe, that serves simple "grub" and their breakfast is a damned good buy - but if you're vegetarian/vegan, I'd give it a wide berth. A good selection of standard fayre that's "simple" - but well prepared, and tasty too. Nothing that we had was swimming in grease, and there wasn't even the sensation of fat or grease in our mouths. There is a wider selection of food, including pizzas, sandwiches, and even the grill (the mixed grill was REALLY tempting, but I stuck with the full English instead).
